It is with our heartfelt condolences-the administration and staff of Whipple and Allen Funeral Home Inc. announce the passing of Mrs. Lula Mae Bivins Brookins, of Gordon Georgia. Mrs. Brookins passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Graveside services will be held on Monday September 5, 2022, 12:00 noon at Rose Hill Cemetery on College Street. Public viewing will be conducted at the gravesite between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. Face mask are required. Due to COVID 19 restrictions the family is asking for privacy during this time- No visitors please.
Ms. Lula Mae Bivins Brookins transitioned from her earthly home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at her residence. She was born May 1, 1921, in Milledgeville, GA to the late Walter Bivins Sr and Millie Mae Roberts Bivins. She was the eldest of 13 children in which 10 preceded her in death (infant Bivins, Annie Mae Veal, Dorothy Mae Thomas, Ella Mae Mears, Bessie Mae Jones, Mary Lee White, Bennie Bivins, Willie Lee Bivins, Rufus Bivins, and Walter Bivins Jr. After moving to Gordon Georgia, she wedded Ulysses Brookins whom she cared for until his death.
She is survived by her daughter Ms. Rena Mae Daniels of Gordon, Ga. Two grandchildren: Michael (Chekeli) Daniels of McDonough, Ga, and Tonya Daniels-Green of Gordon, Ga. Seven great grandchildren: Stacy Green Jr of Albany, Ga, Nicholas Daniels of Forsyth, GA, Camela and Cameron Daniels of McDonough, GA, Desmond, Destinee and D’Kayhlah McCune of Griffin, GA. Two brothers: James Bivins of Tom Rivers, New Jersey, and Warren (Lucinda) Bivins of Gordon, Ga. Devoted neighbor Doretha Whipple of Gordon, Ga. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
