Evangelist Estella Rountree Obituary

Whipple and Allen Funeral Home of 132 Manson St. Toomsboro Georgia announce the passing of Evangelist Estella Rountree of Toomsboro Georgia but made her home in Milledgeville Georgia. Evangelist Rountree passed away on Saturday December 25, 2021 at Navicent Health Baldwin in Milledgeville Georgia.

Evangelist Estella Rountree was born July 25, 1945, in Toomsboro, Georgia to the parentage of the late Robert James Rountree Sr. and the late Blanche Bright Rountree. Evangelist Rountree was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert James Rountree Jr. and Bennie Rountree Sr.

Evangelist Rountree attended the schools of Wilkinson County and graduated. at an early age. Estella confessed her belief in Jesus Christ and joined the fellowship at St. Phillip AME Church in Toomsboro, Ga. She later moved her membership to Flipper Chapel AME in Milledgeville after starting her career at Central State Hospital as an Attendant. Estella soon enrolled in the hospital’s Nursing program as she earned her License Practical Nursing degree (LPN). She faithfully worked and retired after 36 years of service. Estella was faithful as a senior choir member and she was also active in the Missionary Society at Flipper Chapel AME church. Estella continued seeking a closer walk with God as she spent much of her time studying. Estella and her sister Rose started congregating with the Women of The Word Bible Study Group under the Biblical teaching of Pastor Marianne Hurley. It was during this time Estella’s thirst for telling all who would listen about the goodness of God, saving power of Jesus Christ and the comfort of having the Holy Ghost dwelled within. One of her many favorite scriptures was Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Many who knew her can speak about her bright smile and joyful laughter, and “Sister” Girl surely did like to dress, even her casual wear had to match from head to toe. She leaves to cherish her memories one devoted and loving sister Rosetta Rountree Kelsey of Milledgeville, GA, one brother Roosevelt Rountree of Milledgeville, GA, one step-daughter Sharon Coverson Smith of Dublin, GA, one nephew Bennie Rountree Jr of Toomsboro, GA, one niece Katrina Nicole Rountree of Toomsboro, GA.: Two dear friends Barbara Sims of Sandersville, GA, Louise Smith and LeRoy Thomas of Milledgeville, GA. along with a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 30, 2021 at the Whipple and Allen Funeral Home Chapel 1:00pm. Only immediate family and close friends will be in attendance. Public viewing will be open on Wednesday December 29, 2021, beginning at 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 Masks are required for public viewing and services. We ask that you honor the family’s wishes as they will not be receiving visitors during this time: Whenever-Evangelist Estella had blessing-she would say when ending her conversation- let’s finish by saying; “Have a Jesus filled day.”
